Valentines day / Single Awareness Day is just around the corner. You know what that means. Sweets!

If you're like me you can't get away from all the sweets this time of year. It's like the universe is plotting to kill my health plan. I didn't make a new years resolution, I don't think I ever have. I just made up my mind not to lose weight, but be healthier in general.
I'm not one of those that's obsessing over calories or points as some diets do. No fad diets or liquid diets or starving myself either, I love food too much. But I have tried to make smarter choices. Like making a PB&J sandwich on wheat bread instead of white. Eating fresh fruit when my sweet tooth starts aching. Having a salad with 1 slice of pizza with fruit as dessert; instead of having 3 slices of pizza. I've cut back on a few things in my diet already, like soda and caffeine. I don't eat out as much and rarely touch fast food.

I've also made it a point to exercise a few times a week and drink more water.
As a result I feel better. I have more energy and saved money! Do you realize how much people spend on soda and fast food alone?
So what is a wannabe healthy sweets lover to do around the holidays? Just use will power and not eat any of the yummy tokens of love? I think not! And if you don't get any yummy treats from anyone.. Do like I am and make some for Single Awareness day or for family and friends.
Moderation is the key. If a chocolate craving hits and those cookies are screaming "kill me now!". Nom away!.. but have A single cookie ..

or two. Not five ..or ..twelve. I'm guilty but getting better!
Also try out some healthy dessert recipes. Not all of them are loaded with artificial sweeteners, which I can't stomach. Some people swear by them and kudos if you like them. It's just not my thing.
And keep in mind this is just my view-point. I'm not saying you'll lose 100lbs and turn into Batman. I'm no expert or dietician and don't fancy myself as such. But I don't think making wiser choices could hurt.
But for those who are like me and have trouble finding good healthy recipes I've found a few websites with options. I thought I'd share the love.
